The Empire Strikes Back: The War of 1812 (Canada)
The British colony of The Canadas might have issues of their own, such as the linguistic divide and the general struggle of being a colony, but in 1812, they are aware that another conflict is on the horizon. British action against the United States has continued, as they are unwilling to drop their former colony. The British might have lost the first war, but they are ready for a comeback.

Crisis Director: Quinn Corkins
Welcome to the 55th installment of WHSMUN, WHSMUN 2027! My name is Quinn Corkins and I will be serving as your director for the Joint Crisis Committee (JCC): The War of 1812: The Empire Strikes Back. I am very excited to join you all in an exploration of a very underrated time of American history. I’m a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin Madison majoring in Political Science, International Studies, and History, with a certificate in French. This will be my 6th year being involved with Model UN and my second year being involved with WHSMUN. I was a backroom staffer for the JCC last year, and I am so excited to be involved with another wonderful MUN experience, this time working with all of you!
Outside of Model UN you’ll find me reading any good novel, practicing guitar, skiing, or mapmaking. I’m from Massachusetts so depending on the time of year I'll also be watching whatever Boston sports team is (hopefully) beating any team from New York.
In this committee you will work together (or against each other) on creating solutions to fast-paced and convoluted problems. There will be many surprises, some in your favor and some not, and you will have the opportunity to face them all head on with passion! I can’t wait to see how you all lead the young American Republic to prosperity in your renewed fight against the British!
At the core of this crisis is the role you are given. I implore you to fully embrace the character you are given to play, and to do so with the utmost confidence. Don’t shy away from going against the grain of your peers in this committee, one of the best parts about Model UN is the conflict of debate and the story that you get to tell with your character. Don’t be afraid to be creative! This committee is for you, and If you have an idea, even if it seems like it might not work, run with it! Crisis is all about out-of-the-box thinking and taking risks! When you show up to this committee, show up as confident and creative as you can be. And remember, the sky’s the limit if you can debate why it should be yours. As your director my job is to make sure that this committee is as accessible, exciting, and interesting as it can be for you. Your job is to develop your backroom arc, develop your front room role, and get as confident and creative as possible!
