Greetings Delegates!

Welcome to WHSMUN 2026, the 55th Session! My name is Valery Vayserberg, and I am thrilled to be serving as the Under-Secretary-General of the Specialized Agencies.  I am a junior at UW-Madison studying Political Science and Russian with a history certificate. With that, I had the pleasure of studying abroad in Yerevan, Armenia this summer – so if you have any questions about studying abroad, do not hesitate to contact me!  I have been competing in Model UN since my freshman year of high school, while this is my second year competing on the collegiate circuit. Additionally, I staffed MADMUN (Madison Area Model UN) for 4 years, and last year I served as the Director-General of the Council of the European Union for WHSMUN.

This year, we are beyond thrilled to continue to expand the Specialized Agencies department of WHSMUN. Specialized agencies are a place to grow your diplomacy while dipping your toes into unique topics you may not find in GA. By integrating crisis updates, the pace of these committees will be faster, but still place a large emphasis on collaboration and communication. Specialized committees are where I find my home to be in Model UN, specifically due to their creative nature and willingness to push the boundaries of conventional Model UN.

This year’s directors have been carefully selected for their creativity, excitement, and tact at handling difficult and complex topics. Whether you are participating in the brand new fantasy specialized agency (Madagascar), the historical specialized agency (the Iranian Revolution), the classic International Court of Justice (ICJ), or the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNSCW), you will truly find your niche through this year’s specialized agencies offerings. 

Do not hesitate to utilize all of your strengths as a delegate and to step outside your comfort zone. Whether this is your first Model UN conference or your tenth, we humbly and gratefully welcome you to WHSMUN LV. Thus, prepare diligently, be whimsical, and we cannot wait to meet you this March!
